The closing of Wynwood’s longtime underground dance music institution the Electric Pickle broke ravers’ hearts from Miami and beyond (the pint-sized nightclub was world-renowned for its killer sound system and excellent bookings). But the decade-old spot had barely shuttered its doors a year before a new concept quietly emerged from the team behind much of the Pickle magic. ATV Records makes its debut with plenty of familiar faces and several fixtures from the Wynwood venue, including the iconic spaceship disco ball and, of course, the bumping bass that helped make it famous. Short for “Addicted to Vinyl” and housed in a Downtown location with its own hallowed indie nightlife history (the space had previous lives as 1306 and White Room, among others), ATV Records will serve as a retail shop for crate-digging music enthusiasts by day and transform into a bonafide dance mecca by night.
