Grails has the distinction of being the only sports bar in Wynwood. But that’s not the only reason why it’s special. For once, it’s co-owned by chef Giorgio Rapicavoli (Eating House, Glass & Vine), a fact that bodes well for people who like to eat more than just wings while watching a big game. His menu focuses on elevated stadium fare with dishes like tuna poké nachos and buffalo cauliflower, though the aforementioned wings are still available in a far superior form: free-change chicken with gorgonzola buttermilk dressings or crispy pork wings with hoisin BBQ sauce.
Rapicavoli’s partners in the venture, Hector Acevedo and Eddie Fuentes of Cocktail Cartel, ensure as much thought goes into the drink selection, offering a range of craft cocktails suitable for day drinking, like the frosé and passion fruit Aperol spritz, and sipping late into the night, such as the sweet and rum-forward Weatherman with Havana Club and vanilla soda.
TVs hang along the perimeter of the restaurant and the center bar, so everywhere you sit is bound to be a good view. Besides being sneakerheads (the whole place is decked in cool, vintage kicks) the owners root for the Miami Hurricanes, so you’ll need to ask extra nicely to change the channel on gamedays when hometown rivals play.
