Banned Pending Investigation

Over 4,500 book titles have been banned in Florida since the start of 2024, a jarring reality at the root of a new performance titled Banned Pending Investigation. Organized by two Miami-born artists, Antonia Wright and Ruben Millares, the performance sees local high school students construct a wall of currently and historically banned books – then run through that wall to tear them down, a physical and metaphorical act that takes aim at bureaucratic barriers to art, freedom, and education.
