Here lies the last vestige of the lake nation that was México-Tenochtitlán. There are nine piers scattered throughout the southern part of the city. Legend has it that it was actually the Xochimilcas who invented the chinampa agricultural system that would go on to support the great Aztec Empire.
This is one of the most popular piers and it has a crafts and food market.
Renting a trajinera can cost up to 500 pesos an hour, regardless of the number of passengers or the size of the boat. Don’t get tricked into time restrictions and never forget to practice the fine skill of haggling.
