As the days get shorter and the temperature gets colder, Melbourne heats up (not literally though) with fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. In fact, westsiders have their very own winter event to get their mittens around. Winter in Williamstown is a two week event that includes ice skating, light projections and family-fun entertainment.
From June 28 until July 14, there is so much to see and do at Commonwealth Reserve in Williamstown. One must-do activity this winter is low-cost synthetic ice skating. At just $1 for kids, and $5 for adults – you'd be silly not to jump on this exhilarating activity. All experience levels are welcome, so whether you're an ice skating fiend or a novice who spends most of their time on their backside, it's definitely worth a whirl. Tickets are on sale now, so get in quick as they are bound to go like hot cakes.
While you're braving the cold, you may as well check out the stunning winter lights displays at Nelson Place. Expect to see light projections on shops every day from 5pm until 10pm, with additional light displays and light painting from 7.30pm until 9.30pm every Friday and Saturday. An interactive LED play space will also light up from 4.15-7.15pm, so make sure the kids get a chance to try that too.
There's also plenty of entertainment, so rug up with scarves and blankets at the Rotunda in Williamstown and throughout Commonwealth Reserve from 5pm until 7pm on Friday and Saturday and listen to DJs and roving performers.
