Time Out says

What would we do without rice in our lives? This humble grain has certainly spiced up many a meal in the past so isn’t it high time we celebrate it? The World Rice Festival aims to do just that, and it’s headed to Birrarung Marr for three delicious evenings.

Created in partnership with the City of Melbourne, the festival will be a showcase of great food, cultural performances, live music and cooking demonstrations. A curated selection of food stalls have been selected to show off some of the best offerings including exclusive World Rice Festival dishes. The best part? The festival will be free to attend.

Big names headed to the World Rice Festival include HWKR, Rice Paper Scissors, Mamasita, Hoy Pinoy, Farang Thai Isaan BBQ, Mint-O-Mustard, The Brûlée Cart, Cannoleria Cart by That’s Amore, Lady Paella, durian purveyors Duria and heaps more. You can expect anything from tofu rendang to adobo chicken to biryanis, seafood paella and Thai rice pudding.

The festival will be open from 5-10pm on Friday, December 7; noon-10pm on Saturday, December 8; and noon-5pm on Sunday, December 9.
