Can't get enough of true crime? Love feasting on good food and wine? Don't mind sitting next to a stranger over a weird and interactive dining experience? Gather 'round. Fever, the creative team behind Dining in the Dark and Candlelight Concerts, has announced its next project and it ticks all of those boxes.
As the first iteration of Fever's new the Spot Experience series (which has already enjoyed a successful run in Houston, Texas), a four-hour candlelit feast will take place on June 23 in the haunting setting of the historic Old Melbourne Gaol. The three-course meal will be curated by local chefs using seasonal, farm-fresh produce and paired with bottomless Aussie wines and beers.
But let's be real here: you book tickets to a dinner like this for the spook factor more than anything else. It's the first event of its kind in Australia, one that seamlessly weaves the mysterious tales of Ned Kelly and the notoriety of Melbourne's most feared prison since 1805 into a spectacular dining and museum experience.
Guests are free to explore the space (where ghosts of some of its former residents are rumoured to roam) before finding their seats at the large communal table. Silly? Bizarre? Fantastical? The dinner could be any or all of those things, but at the end of a busy work week, it's certainly a bit of fun. Make a booking at the website, tickets are sure to sell fast.
