If you want to get involved in Melbourne’s fun runs but you’re more into the ‘fun’ component than the ‘run’ part, then the Color Run is the race for you. Known as the ‘happiest five-kilometre on the planet’, this untimed event is run all over the world and sees thousands of entrants get doused with vibrant coloured powders after each kilometre. At the finish line, there’s a big party of music, dancing and (why not) even more colour.
This year’s theme is love and organisers are mixing things up it up with a Bubble Zone where you’ll run through floating clouds of iridescent wonder and a Foam Zone where you can frolick through billowing suds, both underfoot and overhead. Runners will also collect goodies including a limited-edition unicorn medal at the finish line.
The post-race party will be hosted by DJ Tallie and DJ Coldeed with an Insta-worthy ball-pit and free Slurpees from 7-Eleven to quench your thirst.
This is a whole lot of silly fun to be sure, but it's also for a good cause. The Melbourne event’s official charity partner is the Starlight Children's Foundation, raising funds and awareness for the charity that brings fun, joy and support to sick kids and their families all over Australia.
It all goes down on November 24 at Flemington Racecourse. Standard adult tickets are $67 with special prices for teams, families and youth. Find out more and book at the Color Run website.
(And, before you write in, yes, we know. The Color Run is a trademark, and it hurts us just much as it hurts you to write it without the U.)
