Not all of us got the time off to visit sunny Mexico this summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy all the flavour and fun of the “land of enchantment”. This summer from January 5-February 24 the Boatbuilders Yard will be taking you on a Mexican holiday in the heart of Melbourne.
The Boatbuilders Yard Mexican Fiesta will feature a custom-built Corona bar where they’ll be slinging buckets of Coronas for $35, as well as tropical cocktails that’ll transport you to the beaches of Cancún. You might even get to visit Cancún for real – every Corona bucket you buy enters you into the draw to win a trip for two to Mexico (see staff for full T&Cs).
It’s not a fiesta without some food and so at the Boatbuilders Yard they’re bringing in El Gordo Taqueria to serve you Mexican dishes. During summer every Friday to Sunday from midday, El Gordo will be at the Boatbuilders Yard serving their traditional tacos al pastor – spit-roasted pork and pineapple tacos with salsa picante. And at just $5 each they’ll be flying out the door.
During the Boatbuilders Mexican Fiesta they’ll also be pumping out some muy bien entertainment. Kick back on a deck chair with a Corona and watch the sky change from blue to gold to black while listening to the Sunset Session DJs. For the full range of entertainment check out the Boatbuilders Yard’s Facebook page.
Though summer might come to an end all too soon at the Boatbuilders Yard they’re making sure they go out with a party, Mexican style. The grand finale of their Mexican Fiesta season February 24 will see the Lucha Fantastica Wrestling Show take to the stage as real luchadores vie for masked, lycra-clad glory. Señor Fantastico will be emceeing as well as DJing on the day and you can even take a crack at a piñata.
Take a trip down Mexico way and head into the Boatbuilders Yard for their Mexican Fiesta from January 5-February 24.
