It's been quite a year, but all good things must come to an end and it's time to kiss 2024 goodbye and welcome 2025 with open arms. Looking for the best way to celebrate? Many of our favourite venues are hosting massive parties so you kick things off with a bang. To help you decide, we've rounded up our top picks below. 

From festivals and club nights to rooftop bars with great views of the fireworks, there's plenty happening around the city – the only thing you have to do is choose, and we recommend doing so quickly so you're not sitting around on December 31 without any fun plans. And don't forget to book in for a feed beforehand so you're not partying on an empty stomach!

On New Year's Eve, this beloved riverside duo is joining forces for an epic Italo Disco-themed party hosted across the two venues. Taking inspo from the sun-drenched beach clubs of Italy, you can expect a night of eating, drinking and dancing. There'll also be live entertainment by some of Melbourne's best DJs and you'll have a front row seat to the fireworks display.

It's the moment we've all been waiting for: Lonsdale Street's mega-venue Her is back again with another epic NYE party across all four floors. At Her Bar you can enjoy a celebratory four-course steak frites menu, while at BKK it's a four-course Thai barbecue feast. Settle in for a nine-hour party at Music Room (entry is free; walk-ins only), or head on up to Her Rooftop an all-inclusive party under the stars complete with views of the fireworks.

This one-day music festival returns to Collingwood Children's Farm for the third year, with a stacked line-up of musicians and DJs including Acopia, Ajak Kwai, Wax'o Paradiso, Scott Grooves, Eternal Love and Milo Eastwood. The festivities will kick off at 3pm and run until 1am, and there will be food and bevs to purchase.

This subterranean cocktail bar in the CBD is putting on a hotly-anticipated NYE event, transforming the stunning venue into a lavish den of entertainment where partgoers will dance long into the early hours. There will be an all-inclusive menu of roving canapés and free-flowing bevs (including a glass of Perrier-Jouet Champagne on arrival and three classic cocktails), plus roaming entertainers and DJs.

This NYE, make your way through the shiny copper-hued doors of QT Melbourne and up the elevator to discover one of the hottest parties in town. The rooftop is hosting an epic soirée overlooking the city's sparkling skyline, complete with bottomless drinks, a killer line-up of a live band, DJ and saxophonist taking care of the dancefloor soundtrack, and a feast of food (including freshly shucked oysters and a late-night dessert station – yum!).

 Party through the first day of the new year overlooking the picturesque Albert Park lake at Palm Springs NYD party, held at Greenfields, right next to the water. It'll be a day filled with good vibes and great music, as well as tasty food curated by chef Nick Korceba. Handlng the tunes will be headliners Late Nite Tuff Guy and John Course, as well as Piero, Minx, Brad Sassman and Jay Ramon.
