Footscray Park is looking like a very tempting place to ring in 2017. For the fourth year in a row, thousands will flock to the banks of the Maribyrnong River to celebrate the year that was. As the second largest New Year’s Eve event (the largest being the City of Melbourne's CBD bash), there will be plenty of activities to keep guests entertained before a fireworks show at 9.30pm.
Expect food trucks, carnival rides and a stage with non-stop entertainment. The line-up includes Mental as Anything (An Australian rock band with a great sense of humour), the Mudcakes (two quirky performers celebrating the ups and downs of family life through song), Horn of Leroy (a New Orleans-inspired seven-piece brass band) and King Bell and Soukous Ba Congo (a Congolese and Cuban duo). As an alcohol-free event, this will a fun and relaxed environment for people of all ages to celebrate.
