Time Out says

Ever wondered what beach the famous multicoloured Brighton beach boxes (or bathing boxes) belonged to? Wonder no more. You can come visit the gaudy boxes at Middle Brighton Beach, the boxes native habitat. The boxes go all the way back to Victorian era Melbourne, where morality greatly affected the way people enjoyed the beach. These days the boxes are a cultural and historical tourist attraction, and are notable for their uniform dimensions and arrangement. Your chances of purchasing one for yourself are slim however – a 2016 sale of a box went for $326,000.
