Add ‘Rasputin’ to your playlist because Melbourne is hosting a Russian and Slavic cultural festival on Saturday, February 8.
Melbourne’s Royal Exhibition building will turn into a traditional Russian village for a day to celebrate the rich and diverse traditions of the country.
The festival will feature food stalls with authentic cuisine and Russian dancing for everyone to experience, plus vodka sorbet for the adults to try.
There will be an arts and craft fair with matryoshka dolls (the traditional wooden nesting dolls), a children’s village where traditional Slavic games will be played, and a Chainaya – a tea house showcasing Russian tea culture.
The festival highlights Russia, as well as the diverse cultures of Ukraine, Serbia and Bulgaria. All are welcome to attend the festival.
