Time Out says

It's the most wonderful time of the year for fashionistas: Melbourne Fashion Week is returning for a week of sartorial heaven. And this year, the celebrations are extra special, as it's the festival's 30th anniversary.

Highlights from the 2024 program (which includes both free and ticketed events) include the Fashion Capsules, which will be dotted across the city at locations including Collins Square, Emporium Melbourne, Southbank Promenade and the State Library Victoria. This series of curated fashion installations will celebrate some of Australia's brightest designers, students and stylists.

If you're interested in fashion illustration, don't miss The World of Megan Hess, an exhibition that will dive into her decade-long career as an author and illustrator. Or you can see designers challenge normative practices of production and consumption at Fashun Phopar, which features clothing and objects that have been crafted using waste materials.

The line-up also includes workshops, tours and roundtable discussions on everything from dopamine dressing to how neurodivergent creatives are shaping the future of fashion.

And, of course, will be runways starring renowned local designers like Willow, Atoir, Bianca Spender, Ngali, Mariam Seddiq, J'Aton Couture, Nicola Finetti, Clothing the Gaps, Aje, Rebecca Vallance, Victoria and Woods, Gammin Threads and Alpha 60.

Tickets for Melbourne Fashion Week are on sale now. For the full program, head to the official website. But get in quick – the premium runways tend to sell out in a flash.
