We never thought we’d miss the hustle and bustle of the State Library of Victoria during lockdown, but we eventually did. The library, which was closed for almost nine months (the longest closure in its 165-year history), is now ready to welcome you back. And it’s doing so with a lovely summer festival launching in February.
Visitors to the Library on the Lawn festival can lounge out on outdoor beanbags set up under shady umbrellas and enjoy live performances over two festival weekends. There will be performances by comedian Josh Earl, children’s group The Mudcakes, and an Indigenous dance workshop by Djirri Djirri. There will also be book and comic-making, calligraphy and kid’s craft workshops as well as DJ sets, face painting and more.
Head over between 10am and 6pm on February 6, 7, 20 and 21. All activities are free, but it’s best you book in advance to avoid missing out. Check out the full program here.
