Time Out says

Celebrate the start of autumn with an apple-picking session at Sanders Apples, a picturesque family-run orchard nestled in the stunning Yarra Valley. Its rows and rows of apple trees are bursting with red Kanzi apples that are ripe for the picking, and you're invited to swing by from March 12 to 14 or Mach 19 to 20 to snag them.

Kanzi means 'hidden treasures' in Swahili, and it's an apple variety that has only been available in Australia for just over a decade. In that time, it's quickly become a fan favourite for its sweet and tangy taste, juicy crunch and vibrant red and yellow colour.

Tickets are $13 per person and include one bag of apples (approximately 2kg worth) to take home with you. When you arrive, we recommend booking in for a tractor ride to get a lay of the land before picking your apples. Afterwards, you can enjoy a picnic on the shady orchard lawns.

You can book your tickets through the Sanders Apples website. For those who prefer Pink Lady or Granny Smith apples, those will be available to pick from April.
