A colourful cultural celebration returns to Melbourne with the annual Indian Festival, which will be filled with winter warmer flavours, energetic performances and an all-round amazing energy.

The festival runs over August 12 and 13, packing the Queen Victoria Market with food vendors showcasing the best of Indian cuisine. Highlights include crowd-pleasers like butter chicken, fragrant curries, street food specialties, sweet kulfis, hot chai, fresh sugar cane juice and much more. The culinary delights will come from regional areas right across the country.

There’s also plenty of shopping to enjoy, with market stalls offering Indian giftwares, jewellery, spices and sauces.

Crowds will be wowed by a jam-packed program of performances, including Indian classical dance and recreations of Bollywood hits that will get you up on your feet and dancing along.

“The Indian Festival Melbourne is going to be such a great experience. We have been working closely with community partners in putting together a day that the whole family can enjoy,” says event organiser Himanshi Munshaw Luhar.

The event is completely free to attend and welcomes everyone to come and explore all that Indian culture has to offer.
