For us, the notion of an Italian summer conjures images of a young Audrey Hepburn cruising around Rome on a Vespa with a neck scarf tied at a jaunty angle (a lá Roman Holiday), lazy drives through vineyards, and sipping on sweet, tart limoncello by the Amalfi Coast as a salty breeze tugs at your hair – throw in a waiter carrying over a pizza freshly pulled from a brick oven, the smell of handmade dough, cured meats and gourmet cheeses wafting in its wake.

Pretend you’re spending your weekend on a European summer holiday – head to the rooftop at State of Grace and partake in the ‘Summer in Italy’ seasonal special, a shared Italian feast with two hours of bottomless spritz for just $60pp. Think rounds of refreshing Malfy Gin Spritz, zingy Limoncello Spritz and citrusy Aperol Spritz served with housemade pizzas and catch up with friends as you pass around summer salads – think rocket with nutty parmesan, pickled red onion, and pear drizzled with a lashing of balsamic; or the classic combination of tomato, fragrant basil and silky mozzarella.

The Aperitivo menu also offers some tempting food and drink specials from noon, with glasses of Spritz for $15 and carafes (jugs) for $40. Combos start at $20 and include pizza, sweet cannolis and tiramisu ice cream sandwiches.

A popular Melbourne haunt, State of Grace is known for seamlessly merging classic with contemporary under a European charm when it comes to everything from the decor to the sophisticated food and drink offerings. The Rooftop is a sky-high oasis where all these elements meet the open air.

This bountiful special is on offer between noon and 2pm every Saturday until the end of March, and you can book onlineGet yourself up to State of Grace on a Saturday, snag yourself a bargain Italian brunch, and toast your savvy saving prowess with a Spritz.
