Time Out says

Buckle up Melbourne, because this year the Formula 1 racers are leaving the track and going off road. In case you missed the news, 2019 marks the first year that the Formula 1 World Championship will be hosting a season launch event. It’s totally open to the public, meaning you can come along and meet all the stars of the circuit. And the best part? It's free.

Get down to Federation Square On Wednesday, March 13, for your chance to glimpse each and every driver in the 2019 World Championship as they mingle with fans, and at a live stage presentation. To really rev things up Formula 1 is also flying in all ten team principals who (along with all the fans) are no doubt keen to get the season started.

As well as giving motorsport fans the chance to see and hear from all their fave Formula 1 heroes, the season launch (the first ever of its kind) will also have live entertainment. The energy will be high in the square with live music from local DJs keeping guests moving.

You’ll not only be able to see all 20 F1 drivers, but the season launch will have opportunities for you to score autographs (or a sneaky selfie) with the drivers as well. With the likes of five-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen, Sebastian Vettel, Max Verstappen and Australia’s own Daniel Ricciardo in attendance, it’s sure to be a star-studded event.

Slept in and didn’t get a primo spot? Never fear, as the Formula 1 season launch will also be broadcast on the big screens along the river and in Federation Square, so that no matter where you’re standing you’ll see all the action. Or if you can’t drag yourself away from the office you can still watch the event unfold live via Formula 1’s Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels.

The first ever Formula 1 season launch kicks off at 3.30pm on Wednesday, March 13. The entire event is unticketed and free to attend. You can find out more online.
