It’s not often you see a much-loved convenience store throw a carnival or sell quality fairtrade coffee, so the 7-Eleven ‘Fair Ground’ carnival will be an event for the history books.
The Australian retailer is celebrating rolling out its most sustainable coffee ever by treating coffee lovers to a pop-up Fair Ground. Found in the heart of the CBD and running from October 14 to 15, the site will feature a 15-metre-high Ferris wheel, carnival games, stilt walkers, entertainment, snacks and free cups of 7-Eleven’s iconic freshly ground coffee.
“It’s important now more than ever to know where your coffee comes from, and to know it’s traded on fair terms with fair working conditions. The 80 million cups of coffee that 7-Eleven serve each year will now be 100 per cent Fairtrade certified. This means a more sustainable future for coffee farmers, their communities and our customers,” says Julie Laycock, the GM of customer and insights at 7-Eleven.
This Fairtrade announcement is part of the company’s broader commitment to the environment, accompanied by it rolling out new plant-based coffee packaging the offer of a 50c discount when customers bring in a reusable coffee cup.
The pop-up carnival will run from noon to 8pm on Friday October 14 to Saturday, October 15 at 217-231 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne. Entry is free.
