Head up to Embla’s rooftop bar and cinema for dinner and a show. This pop-up offers a Mediterranean-influenced menu that we know and love from the team at Embla with a selection of cocktails, beers and over 50 different wines at the bar.
As soon as the sun sets, however, the rooftop bar transforms into a rooftop cinema. Outdoor deck chairs and parasols point towards the five-metre wide projection screen and classic films come to life thanks to a week-by-week themed list of movies curated by District Agency. Think high school week (Pretty In Pink, Juno), music week (Wayne’s World 2, Whiplash) and driving week (Baby Driver, Mad Max) to name a few.
The menu is still available during the film for moviegoers looking to snack or sit down to a full meal. Dishes on the menu include snapper rillettes and fennel toast, grass-fed Angus minute steak with rocket and lime, or tiramisu, mascarpone delta, marsala caramele, coffee and chocolate.
For those looking for the typical movie experience, there’s a candy bar that stocks buckets of popcorn, Piccolina gelato pops and plenty of chocolatey treats. Plus there's blankets, sunnies and other things available to purchase from the rooftop bar.
Walk-ins are welcome every day for the bar up until 8pm, and after that, you’ll require a booking for the evening’s movie screening with tickets available to purchase in advance via the website.
Embla Rooftop is located on 126 Russell Street, Melbourne, and is open seven days a week from Monday to Friday 3pm until late, and weekends 5pm until late.
