What are you doing Cup weekend? Well how about we put on our favourite ‘50s threads and head Back to the Future at Howler?
If you’re a fan of the classic time travel adventure Back to the Future, you’ll be aware that the central conflict comes to a head at Hill Valley High School’s Enchantment Under the Sea Dance. It’s the dance in which Biff gets boffed, George and Lorraine fall in love and where Marty gets coaxed into playing “Johnny B Goode” to a crowd that just aren't ready for it yet (but their kids are going to love it!)
For one night only, Brunswick beer haven Howler will be throwing their very own Enchantment Under the Sea dance with the help of creative collective Tastemakers. As well as some pretty spectacular underwater theming, the night will feature a live set from Marty and the Great Scott’s – a supergroup made up of some of Melbourne’s finest musicians – who will be playing hit songs from the ‘50s and classics from the Back to the Future franchise, and be followed by a DJ set by '80s maven DJ Cassette Walkman.
This isn’t the first time Howler have been swept up in cinematic furore – earlier this year they celebrated the launch of new Twin Peaks episodes by turning the bar into David Lynch’s famous Black Lodge. The Howler team have promised many Back to the Future themed surprises throughout the night but they’re not disclosing much, because as they say, no one should ever have too much information about their future.
