This picturesque suburb on the outskirts of north-east Melbourne is one of the oldest gold rush towns in the state. Today, the meandering Yarra River might not be great for gold-panning, but it's far enough from the CBD that it attracts hundreds of swimmers during the summer. Warrandyte retains its history through its Colonial buildings, but is now home to a number of cute artisan shops, op-shops, cafes and its famous Warrandyte Bakery.
