A series of exclusive events are popping up around Melbourne this November, designed to celebrate emerging local talent and creative pioneers who are working in close connection with their local communities.
Always Originals will see athletic apparel giant Adidas Originals team up with some of the most beloved businesses in Melbourne to help host localised activations celebrating food, art and design. Across two weekends in November, you can visit these free events in the north and west 'burbs, including a street block party, community workshops, markets and more.
Known for some of the best Lebanese bakery eats around, A1 Bakery will be serving up free wraps at their Sydney Road joint. You can get your mits on either a falafel or chicken wrap between 10am and 12pm on Sunday, November 5. They've been drawing lines of people for their delicious bites for the last thirty years and we can testify that the food is very tasty.
On November 11 there is a bumper line-up of events to check out, kicking off with a lifestyle portrait day with photographer Ben Clement, founder of Good Sport Magazine. This Collingwood-based publication has redefined the typical sports magazine, taking a fresh, curious and playful approach. Head down to On The Corner Gallery between 11am and 4pm to get your photo taken in a snappy ten-minute session. This is your moment to unleash your self-expression, with attendees encouraged to dress in their own unique style, with a stylist and hair and make-up artist on deck to help finish your look.
Once you've had your happy snap taken, head west to Footscray for a bumping block party thrown by beloved Filipino-inspired café Migrant Coffee. Running from 5-10pm in celebration of its fourth birthday, it will feature DJs and a mega barbecue.
On November 12, Indigenous-led local jewellery brand Haus of Dizzy is throwing an all-ages Haus Party to celebrate its ninth birthday, complete with market stalls, workshops, food and music. It'll be a celebration of Indigenous pride, community and creativity and is taking place from 12-5pm
To round out the jam-packed weekend, there's also a flower-filled community workshop and feast with XFLOS, a local business that has reinvented floristry with innovative botanical structures. Expect a fun-filled event featuring plenty of food and florals – it's happening from 2-8pm.
Did we mention all of these events are free? But you've gotta RSVP to reserve your spot, so get in quick. All the details are on the website.
