Nothing beats a weekend pilates sesh, right? The endorphins, smug feeling of accomplishment and post-class coffee are a match made in heaven. Well, what if you could also do your bit for charity the next time you practised your single-leg bridges? Talk about an exercise high.
Starting at 7am on July 22 and finishing at 6am the following day, KX Pilates in Richmond is hosting an epic pilates class to raise funds and awareness for Lifeline. The 24-hour stretch-athon is all about shining a light on the benefits of group exercise and the positive impact it can have on your mental wellbeing.
Classes will run every hour, on the hour, and are 50 minutes long. Don’t worry, no one is expecting you to be on the reformer for the entire 24 hours – like in a relay, participants will swap out at the end of each sitting. It's just $39 to take part (which is how much it costs Lifeline to facilitate each call), and 100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the charity so it can continue its lifesaving work.
Lifeline is Australia’s leading suicide prevention service, with a person reaching out to the service every 30 seconds. There are 41 centres across the country, and more than 3,000 volunteers providing crisis support to those in need.
You can join individually or create a team, and there’s no need to be a KX Pilates member to get involved. For more information and to register, head to the website. Can’t make it on the day? Feel free to donate here.
