Calling all bohemians... Moulin Rouge! The Musical is here with its banging score of hits, its sensational story of love in 19th-century Paris, and its phenomenal grab-bag of ten (count ’em) Tony Award wins. Based on the Baz Luhrmann blockbuster, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is bolder than a Toulouse-Lautrec poster and saucier than a line of can-can dancers, and the perfect show to blast away the year’s cobwebs and bring back the fun.
To celebrate the show’s opening, iconic locations across Melbourne will turn ‘rouge’ during the evenings of Dec 4-7, from dusk till dawn. And you’re invited to capture the moment by taking a photo of one or more of the participating venues, by which you stand to win a luxe Moulin Rouge! The Musical experience in Melbourne.
The locations getting a glam-up include the Regent Theatre, Flinders Street Station, Royal Exhibition Building, Immigration Museum, Forum Theatre, the Westin Melbourne, Old Treasury Building, Bolte Bridge, Evan Walker Bridge, Tanderrum Bridge, GPO Melbourne, 120 Collins, Sandridge Bridge, State Library Victoria, Melbourne Cricket Ground (Dec 4-5 only), Rod Laver Arena and AAMI Park (Dec 6-7 only).
Whether you’re a professional photographer or an Instagram snapper, you’re urged to take photos and put them on the ’gram tagging @timeoutmelbourne and @moulinmusicalAU plus hashtag #PaintTheTownRouge and #VisitMelbourne. To be eligible for the prize, your profile must be public of course!
What do you stand to win? As well as two VIP tickets to the show, there’s a night’s accommodation at the Westin Melbourne along with the hotel’s ‘Sparkling Diamond High Tea’. In addition to the grand prize are ten runner-up prizes of Moulin Rouge! The Musical merch. Time Out will be featuring the winning entry on our website and social platforms, so give it your best shot.
It’s also a fun way to rediscover Melbourne’s CBD with lots of new experiences to enjoy. And we’ll see you at the Regent for the show – come what may. Get your entry in by Sunday December 12.
