Here's something you might not know about Megan Mullally (aka Will and Grace's fabulous Karen Walker): she's a killer singer. Long before she became a sitcom star, Mullally had appeared in Broadway musicals and has honed those skills over the course of her career.
Now she's returning to Australia with her band Nancy and Beth, a collaboration between Mullally and actor Stephanie Hunt (Friday Night Lights). The pair have been performing together for more than five years and describe their style as "punk-vaudeville". Wearing matching costumes and performing in choreography as tight as their harmonies, they bring new – if somewhat kooky – life to American classics, putting new spins on tracks originally recorded by everybody from Rufus Wainwright to Wynona Carr.
Their style is pretty impossible to describe, so you might be better to just watch this clip.
They'll be joined at the Melbourne Recital Centre by five musicians: Datri Bean (keyboards, vocals), Joe Berardi (drums), Petra Haden (strings, vocals), Roy Williams (guitar, vocals) and Andrew Pressman (bass, vocals).
