In Gruesome Playground Injuries, Pulitzer Prize-nominated playwright Rajiv Joseph has crafted a strikingly original, frequently funny and rather dark play. It traces the symbiotic relationship between Kayleen and Doug, best friends whose lives intertwine over the course of 30 years. Doug is accident-prone, while Kayleen’s hurt is more insular, with their tendency towards self-destruction and self-harm acting as the centrepiece of the play.
Time Out London’s four-star review of the 2013 off-West End production called the play “mordantly funny and tender as a sprain”. Starring Laura McIntosh and Christian Charisiou, this limited Chapel off Chapel run will be directed by Jessica Dick.
