Time Out says

Gather the kids and make your way to the Athenaeum Theatre, because Dog Man the Musical is barking its way into Melbourne. For the uninitiated, this rollicking show is based on the best-selling Dog Man books by Dav Pilkey, who is also the creator of the wildly popular book series, Captain Underpants. This colourful musical version, presented by CDP Kids, brings Pilkey’s beloved Dog Man characters to life for an epic musical adventure recommended for ages six and above.

With the head of a dog and the body of a policeman, Dog Man loves to fight crime and chew on the furniture. He’s always trying his best to be a good boy, but will Dog Man be able to save the city from Flippy the cyborg fish and his army of Beasty Buildings? And can he catch Petey, the world’s most evil cat? With so much intrigue on the agenda, you’ll have to bring the little ones along to resolve the suspense.

Dog Man the Musical is directed by Jen Wineman with music by Brad Alexander, and book and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila. The Melbourne premiere season will run from January 17-28 2024. There will be multiple sessions each day running for approximately 65 minutes with no intermission, including plenty of matinees for children with early bedtimes.

Tickets are priced between $39.50 and $59.50 and kids two and under can enjoy the musical for free, as long as they can sit on a parent or carer’s lap. Tickets are on sale now and you can get yours here.
