The Esplanade Market at St Kilda has been a city icon since 1970. With its inspiring mix of arts and crafts, it's a world-renowned hotspot for local artists and creatives to sell their wares to the casual Sunday crowd who wander along the palm-fringed esplanade.
Obviously it's a firm favourite in summer, with its windswept location by the famous St Kilda foreshore, but in-the-know locals have a soft spot for the arty market in winter too, when the crowds are less hectic and you can pick up something special without the busy addition of the barefoot beach crowd.
The market is an easy 15-minute ride from the city on the 16 or 96 trams. St Kilda Esplanade Market is open 10am to 5pm during daylight savings, or 10am to 4pm at all other times.
