Time Out says

Those in the know will be well aware that Preston Market is the place to go if you want armfuls of produce for spare change, Lucchini Cakes’s famous Nutella donuts (drool), and lunch for under a tenner from a local food truck. But if you haven’t made it yet to the northern suburbs’ biggest market, set a date to visit the newly minted Preston Artist Market (PAM) Lane.

Taking up the market’s north block, PAM Lane is being run by the team behind Fitzroy’s Rose Street Market, who decided that the area needed to be reinvigorated. Expanding on the arts market concept, PAM Lane will feature a mix of food and retail outlets, and aims to act as an incubator for independent makers and small business owners.

Founder Christian Ferrante explains the market is a space where tenants can both make and sell their wares on site. “Spaces are available for monthly leases, and unlike in Rose Street Market which has a more transient feel, makers can treat their spaces as a pop-up store, which means they can set up a workshop at PAM Lane.”

PAM Lane is open on market days and visitors will be able to get a caffeine fix from the Little Bean Squeezery, recycled timber homeware, locally made and designed clothing and jewellery and treats from a vegan bakery. Ferrante says PAM Lane’s tenants are chosen based on uniqueness and locality, with the current count of 20 stalls set to grow as more businesses sign on.

Better get those nanna shopping trolleys ready.
