As a New York-style purveyor of delicious meatballs, ball jokes and Italian wines, Meatball & Wine Bar was a pretty easy sell to the masses. It comes as no surprise then that this expanding brand (which already has outposts in the CBD, Collingwood, Richmond and Chapel St) is building on their meat mastery with a butcher specialising in traditional Italian produce.
Mr Macellaio’s Meat Shop specialises in – you guessed it – meat. They serve organic, free range and preservative free cuts, along with dry aged beef, burger patties and gourmet Italian sausages. They’ll be selling ready-to-eat meals, with a subscription service on its way. Ticks for authenticity come via the name, ‘macellaio’, which is Italian for butcher.
