You know you’re in for a retail treat when you walk into a shop and a lemon drizzle cake is baking in the (not display-only) oven.
French cookware company Le Creuset has just opened its first stand-alone Melbourne store at Emporium. Letting the delicious scene of baking float into the mall's third floor is just one way that they’ve begun to entice customers inside to admire their premium cast iron pots, pans, mugs and everything in between.
The other way is through their special lid wall. In homage of their most famous product – the cast iron French oven/casserole pot – the lids are displayed like platinum discs in a record shop along the back wall in all of Le Creuset's vibant couleurs.
Rustic charm is king here, and the pots, ramekins and teapots can be purchased in matching volcanic orange or mismatched with Marseille blue, dark purple or moss green. Naturally, you’ll expect to pay top dollar here, but you can be sure that these are the culinary tools you can keep forever.
