Henne means 'her' in Swedish, and it's a fitting name for the simple, effeminate and Scandi-inspired designs found within influencer Nadia Bartel's clothing brand. Bartel launched Henne in 2020, building the clothing line around interchangeable wardrobe staples designed to serve buyers for life. And now, two ,years later and shortly after debuting at Australian Fashion Week, the brand is opening its first-ever bricks-and-mortar store.
Located within two quaint terrace shops along Greville Street in Prahran's village precinct, the design by Brahman Perera (Entrecôte, Ursula's) reflects the Nordic influences of the clothing. The first terrace, which houses the garment displays, features hand-knotted wool rugs and rich timber panelling. Walls are painted in earthen hues, and intimate dressing rooms are shrouded in woven seagrass and decorated with hinged mirrors and billowing white drapery.
The second terrace, which is intended as a space for events, workshops, tailoring and consultations, exudes a warm, homey ambience. White-washed walls house plinth seats, oil paintings, woven rugs and tables laden with brightly coloured coffee table books.
Henne will open to the public from Friday, June 24 to coincide with the launch of the brand's first range of winter coats.
