Married couple Adam Koniaras and Marnie Goding are taking over the world one stylish accessory at a time. What started as a tiny start-up venture has expanded to a cult brand across the country. Even so, Elk's scarves, knits, bags and men's and women's wear are still made from small, family-owned manufacturers who provide good working conditions.
We caught up with Marnie to get her tips for accessorising this winter.
Marnie, what should we be wearing in the cold months?
Invest in a statement necklace. Winter wardrobes shouldn’t mean hiding yourself under layers of clothes – you can still maintain style and accessorise your outfits. Bold necklaces will contribute to a varied and stylish winter closet. Also, every winter ensemble can be layered with a big woollen scarf. This season we have an alpaca blend piece, which is perfect for a bit of colour.
Finally, a colourful handbag is the perfect way to inject some life and colour into your winter ensemble. Convertible cross body bags, spacious totes and even some roomy travel luggage – these are the staples.
Are there any accessorising don’ts?
Don't become too matchy-matchy. If the same colour is being used in all of your accessories, they're all competing for one prize: to serve as the statement accessory.
Also, don’t over-accessorise. For instance, a chunky necklace with a logo T-shirt leaves others wondering what to look at.
