Rebecca Feingold, the founder of the Toasta and Von Crumb food trucks, has parked her business in her first bricks and mortar outpost in West Melbourne. The stationary Toasta and Co sits on a charming corner store location and expands on what Feingold's two food trucks started, the menu includes favourites like the Mack (a mac 'n' cheese toastie), as well as new additions like the Rami with pastrami and a cheese blend.
The schnitzel toastie at Toasta and Co (which is also available in a vegetarian eggplant version) is served in a pretzel bun and owes its origins to the Von Crumb truck, which specialises in schnitzels.
This is a little eatery for grown ups who feel like going back to a simpler time, when all we needed for a decent meal is ooey gooey cheese and perfectly crisp toastie. It also helps that each toasted sanga sits around the $10 mark, making Toasta and Co a decent cheap eats option if you find yourself out west.
