The much-loved Terrace Café that overlooks the Ornamental Lake in Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens has been transformed into a new all-day café and event space.
This scenic spot will be serving up breakfast and lunch classics, housemade scones and takeaway options. The curated menu for both the café and the event space will champion seasonal produce and high-quality ingredients, to be closely aligned with a stellar drinks list. So when you finish your lap around the Tan, pop in for a light brekky of avocado tartine, chilli scrambled eggs or Turkish-style eggs. And the best news of all? The Terrace will be serving up the Darling Group’s signature giant blueberry and ricotta hotcakes.
The Darling Group is responsible for this modern transformation, and seeing as they own a bunch of Melbourne favourites like Top Paddock, Higher Ground and the Kettle Black, and recently undertook the renovation of Stringers in Sorrento, we are not surprised they have elevated the venue to new heights. Having grown up in the area, brothers Nick and Chris Seoud of Darling Group said that "to completely transform [the Terrace] and create a place for others to create their own memories is such an exciting opportunity for us."
The Terrace function venue houses two separate spaces – indoor and outdoor – and is available to hire for private events. The event area takes inspiration from the lush, leafy surroundings, creating a romantic spot perfect for weddings, parties, conferences, product launches and other private functions.
Look out for coffee carts that will soon be operating from Gate A and Gate D, helping caffeinate passers-by and those pounding the pavement, and for those wanted to venture further into the gardens, grab a Terrace-To-Go box filled with a sandwich or salad, a juice and sweet treat to enjoy in the glorious grassy gardens.
