Public Bar used to house Melbourne's fishy favourite, Miss Katie's Crab Shack, which has since found a new home at Rochester Castle. In its place, the boys behind Public have opened a new elaborately named sandwich and jaffle bar. Eschewing bog-standard sandwich fillings, Sir Chicory St. Claire's Sanctioned Digestive Parlour's menu takes a few leaps into the wild. Try a pulled-rabbit roll with spicy rabbit and slaw, stick with the rabbit theme for the bunny jaffle, try the drunken grilled cheese sanga (cheese, onion and beer) or go wild and order the bonkers-sounding potato gem and jalapeño mash sub with Napoli sauce (surely as naughty as vegetarian food gets). If you prefer to play it safe, there's a Reuben or BLT; if you want to scare your doctor, opt for the unashamedly calorific tinned spag and cheese jaffle. Whatever you choose, wash it down with beer (and a side of live music, if you time your visit wisely).
