Brace yourself for intense cheese dreams after a cheese-heavy session at Shifty Chèvre. This licensed casual eatery that's part-cheese bar and part-café not only offers a range of cheese platters to eat in and takeaway, their entire menu is chockful of the delicious gooey stuff.
Daytime offerings include Shifty Chèvre's signature Croque Monsieur (French for the best hangover cure ever) and Croque Madame (the monsieur plus a fried egg), which are just the ticket for a weekend brunch. At night, things get even more cheesy with raclette and fondue machines turning French cheeses into decadent, molten sauces to dip, scoop and slather side dishes with.
In what is probably a testament to the cheese bar's ability to imbibe, Shifty Chèvre was dreamed up by friends Tom Petty, Noemie Lacoste and Alex Whyte after a few too many vinos one night. Based around the idea that all you need for a good night is a decent bottle, a great feed and good company, the team decided to bring the idea to life. A crash course in French cheeses (Lacoste is French and had a head start) and a whirlwind build by Petty later, Brunswick Street's cheese heaven was born.
