Repeat Offender has become a valuable member of the Elwood community since it opened its doors two years ago slinging Latin-inspired food and unmissable cocktails. Director Alex Greco describes the restaurant "as a place that welcomes locals and people from all over... We can’t wait to see what the future holds for Repeat Offender."
The menu showcases Latin flavours and ingredients, and the food just so happens to be 100 per cent gluten-free. The small section includes snacks such as hongos paella rice bombs with black truffle and Congo potato mayonnaise, tiger prawn tostadas with tarama, and charred sweetcorn with saffron corn purée, chimichurri and pecorino cheese.
The Baja fish tacos with chipotle aioli, sweetcorn and cabbage happen to pair perfectly with the Pink Grapefruit Margarita (made using blanco tequila, triple sec, lime and grapefruit bitters). Or you could opt for the spicy red mole chicken tacos with chilli and sweet potato chips, and wash it down with the Dominican Spritz (a mix of Dominican passionfruit liqueur, coconut rum, passionfruit seltzer and lemon).
The large dishes are ideal for sharing among the table – go the confit lamb with green peas, pomegranate, béchamel croquette, salsa verde jus and saltbush or the stuffed zucchini with mince, pasilla, almond, lemon cheese and micro herbs.
And to celebrate its second anniversary, Repeat Offender is throwing one helluva party. Head down to the Elwood joint on February 3, between noon and 1pm, when 100 frozen Margaritas and tacos will be handed out... for free! Choose between a chicken, fish or pumpkin taco (one per person) and add on a classic frozen Marg – what's not to love about that?
