Time Out says

No. 100 Flinders Lane is a day-to-night bistro located in the Paris end of the CBD, plating up a rotating selection of European-inspired dishes with a seasonally local touch. Code Black Coffee’s founder Joseph Haddad opened the venue in April 2023 to no small amount of initial curiosity. Was it a wine bar? A coffee shop or sandwich deli? A secret upscale restaurant?

The snug space with a discreet, stripped-back facade has since been discovered as all of the above and more. It's a refreshingly versatile enclave for lunch meetings, dinner dates, elevated bites, wines and everything in between. The restaurant is divided into two main sections: a bright, fuss-free deli offering up fresh sangas, salumi, antipasti and a smattering of smaller plates (think veal carpaccio with fermented chilli hollandaise or oyster mushrooms with cashew cream), and a handsome, wood-panelled dining room that can seat about 20.

If you’re interested in the latter, your best bet is to make a reservation on weekends when it tends to fill up fast. But during the weekdays, you've got a bit more luck for spontaneity: there’s an easygoing, walk-in-friendly air to the operation, in keeping with the nod to Euro-style bistros.

The food menu is as snacky or as hearty as you’d like, depending on what you choose to order. From orange and thyme-marinated olives and roasted beetroots with stracciatella, hazelnuts and vincotto, to pork belly with agrodolce peppers and pine nut burnt butter or a rich and juicy Angus beef shin with celeriac puree. It’s a choose-your-own adventure, with a focused wine list to match.

You’ll find both alternative and conventional drops in the selection, many with a strong focus on local and smaller producers. The cocktail list also hones in on home, with ingredients like eucalypt, South Australian Never Never gin and Code Black coffee liqueur making an appearance in several sophisticated drinks.

Whether you find a bench in the sun to enjoy a freshly made prosciutto sandwich and espresso or sink deep into a banquette for the full No. 100 Flinders experience, there’s no doubt that this spot is one of the most charming openings in town this year.
