Thank heavens someone thought to remind Melbourne how darn delicious and fresh tasting a souvlaki could be. That someone was George Colombaris, whose Jimmy Grants is a franchise for which we are truly grateful. The Richmond outpost, between the Swan Hotel and Public House, offers the standard Jimmy Grants menu of souvas, plates, salads and sides such as feta chips and dips with pita. And yes, they have the loukamades (Greek doughnuts). Who is Jimmy Grant then? The name is a nod to an older Australia that once struggled to pronounce the names of Greek immigrants and settled upon rhyming slang. Now you know.
