Four ways to try Japanese fried chicken

Get your mouth around 'JFC' at Saké Jr

In the cooler weather, a hard working salaryman or woman's thoughts often turn to the uniquely satisfying flavours and textures of Japanese food.

Neil Perry and the team from Saké Jr – the more casual younger sibling to contemporary Japanese restaurant Saké Restaurant and Bar – are heating up the kitchen this autumn with delicious karaage, or Japanese fried chicken (JFC).

They are frying it up in a bunch of different styles for you to try. You can have it on top of a bowl of warming shoyu soy chicken broth ramen. You can snack on saucy fried chicken wings topped with spicy Gochujang (pungent fermented Korean) sauce; try it sandwiched in a burger with kimchi, 'slaw and lettuce; or just enjoy it plain with an ice cold craft beer by Urban Craft Brew Co, such as Hattori Hit Girl or Blushing Geisha.

Saké Jr is all about responsibly sourced ingredients and Japanese food cooked fresh in the open kitchen every day. Find out more about Saké Jr and find your local Saké Jr store.
