Convoy is a bright and airy corner café and takeaway coffee shop in the heart of Moonee Ponds, recently opened after an ambitious 18-month renovation. The team behind the project is responsible for the success of fellow brunch darlings Terror Twilight, Hi Fi and Tinker, with Convoy fast joining those ranks.
Despite its large size (it seats close to 150), the modern space manages to feel cosy, warm and convivial at the same time. It also has an outdoor wraparound deck full of leafy garden beds, popular for dining out with groups in the warmer months. The café focuses on sustainably driven eats and top-notch coffee just as you like it, which you can enjoy either inside or on the move via takeaway from the window.
The menu is a little more left field than your average brekky spot, with featherlight cinnamon-scroll pancakes, king prawn rolls, and okonomiyaki-inspired waffles enticing regulars on the daily. There’s also a steak-frites roll with sliced rump and bone marrow gravy – the ultimate holy grail hangover cure – and plenty of familiar crowd-pleasers, too, like acai bowls, eggs benny, smashed avo and more.
Whether you choose to go solo and get cosy in an intimate nook with your laptop or you'd rather gather a crew for a big brunch, don't skip out on the caffeine hit. Convoy has a reputation for making an insanely good brew.
