You might know that the folks at Connie’s Pizza are connoisseurs of massive New York-style slices that would fuel the masses until the wee hours of the morning. Now, the beloved CBD venue is now bringing another beloved American staple to Melbourne.
The pizza joint that's based inside grungy bar Heartbreaker is now acquainting the masses with the Grandma Pie – a deep dish take on Detroit-style pizza that was coined by Italian-American nonnas in New York City. It's a square 12" by 12" pie that's saucy, cheesy and now available for takeaway and delivery.
There are seven flavours to choose from including the artichoke complete with alfredo sauce; the classic pepperoni; a tomatoey mushroom number; a sausage and red onion pie; the 'Big Bad Wolf' that features sausage, onion and pancetta; the 'Don't Tell Nonna' which is a take on a Hawaiian pizza; and the stock standard cheese. Vegan options are also available.
