Brush your furs and wax your mustache ends for Club Soda, a one-night-only show at the Thornbury Theatre. The glamorous event is a mix of variety show and town hall dance: instead of just watching, the audience will be Lindy Hopping to live jazz and swing from the Pearly Shells band.
The event is being produced by Raconteur Productions, who are behind the highly successful Paris Underground Cabaret revue. Many of the Paris Underground performers will be taking the Club Soda stage, including MC Frank Minniti, magicians Julia Madotti and Richard Vegas, tap duo Eden Read and Hannah Trott and circus performers Tarah Carey and Tim Rutty. But perhaps the greatest draw is Australian burlesque star Zelia Rose, who was voted 2019’s top international burlesque performer by 21st Century Burlesque magazine, and tours regularly with the divine Ms Dita von Teese.
The theme of the night is a Prohibition Ball, so take your sartorial cues from jazz age movies like The Great Gatsby and Chicago. (If in doubt, reach for the sequins.) Afterwards, keep the vintage vibe going next door at Pallino, with its bocce court and classic cocktails. Perhaps a Highball may be in order – a tall Collins glass filled with whisky, ice and plenty of club soda.
