Be honest: do you walk your dog as much as you should? We can all get a bit lazy (especially in winter) but there’s an additional reason to be giving Fifi or Fido their daily walkies this August.
Guide Dogs Victoria is encouraging all dog owners in Victoria to walk their good boy or girl 30 minutes every day in August to help support people with low vision or blindness. Pawgust is an initiative by Guide Dogs Victoria to help dogs and their owners get fit while raising funds for guide dog training.
Register for Pawgust and you’ll get your own ‘paw-dometer’ to help you count your steps. You’ll also be able to create an account and start fundraising for Guide Dogs Victoria. Each guide dog costs $50,000 to raise and provides invaluable support to people who have low vision and blindness, so every penny you raise will help.
Even the unfortunate souls who don’t own dogs are encouraged to take part by going for a 30-minute walk by themselves or with a human pal. Registrations for Pawgust are open now and can be accessed via their website.
