Anyone who’s ever dabbled with spray paint will know that there’s a lot more to it than just point and press. If you’ve ever dreamt of joining the leagues of Rone and Adnate, but have always been too vanilla to learn the art organically then we have good news. Blender Studios has launched a new initiative called Blender Institute and it’s running workshops every weekend.

The new public workshops take place in the Blender Studios West Melbourne location (the same building that houses Blender’s artists – it’s well worth taking a squiz around to see all the work).

Budding creatives can take workshops in stencil art, freehand spray painting, brush lettering typography, advanced stencil portraiture, watercolour and even terrarium building. As well as public classes, the Blender Institute also takes private bookings for parties, school groups and team building exercises.

Blender Studios first started in 2001 where it lived on Franklin Street. Blender Studios subsidises the rent for its artists through its events, exhibitions and workshops. So by booking into a class you’re not just learning a new skill – you’re helping support Melbourne’s thriving creative industry.

Visit the Blender Institute to book a workshop.
