South Yarra’s latest vegan and vegetarian bar and kitchen is opening in April 2021.

Lona Misa is helmed by renowned chef and owner of vegan hotspots Smith & Daughters and Smith & Deli, Shannon Martinez, as well as chef and owner of sunlit, French-inspired haunt Kirk’s Wine Bar and the now-closed French Saloon, Ian Curley.

The venue will call the new South Yarra Ovolo Hotel (the first hotel group in the world to go vegetarian) home and is set to contain a café and wine bar. The venue will spruik Martinez’s Latin roots through a heavily vegan and vegetarian menu offering, while Curley will overlook and fine-tune the details.

Both chefs will oversee the menus across the restaurant and bar, and ingredients will be sourced fresh from local farmers and producers. The drinks programme will keep things exciting with seasonal cocktails, house-made sodas and wines sourced from some of Australia’s most progressive producers, with a primary focus on natural, organic and carbon neutral wines.

Lona Misa is located at 230 Toorak Road, within Ovolo South Yarra and will launch in April 2021.
