Melburnians are in for a real treat this week, with a massive flight sale that is exclusive to our very own airport. That's right, in majorly exciting news for avid travellers, Melbourne Airport is teaming up with Click Frenzy to offer major discounts on overseas airfares from ten international airlines as part of a five-day flash sale. It's time to get holiday planning!

Melbourne Airport’s Flight Frenzy sale will start on February 18 at 7pm local time and run until February 23, with an exclusive sale on flights departing from Melbourne to destinations like Japan, London, Paris and Thailand.

There are ten international airlines participating in the sale, including United Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, China Airlines and more – each offering their own mega deals.

To give you an idea of the discounts you could score, Qatar Airways is offering up to 12 per cent off flights to the United Kingdom and China Airlines has up to 15 per cent off flights to Japan and London. That's just a small sample of the bargains on offer – but they all make for some major moola saved.

The airport is offering the sale as an antidote to cost-of-living pressures, and as a way of helping Victorians to still be able to travel.

Melbourne Airport chief of aviation Jim Parashos said the international air travel market had finally recovered enough for there to be competitive prices on international airfares, including sales with significant discounts.

“Our international market has pivoted from recovery to growth and that’s a great outcome for passengers with the added competition continuing to put downward pressure on fares,” he said.

“For a time, international travel was out of reach for the average family, but we’ve seen fares come down and now with sales such as this families can lock in an affordable overseas holiday this year.

There's plenty of demand for travel, too – Melbourne Airport has just recorded its busiest ever summer of international travel, with more than 2.3 million international passengers arriving across December and January. The airport is planning for even more action, with a major expansion of the international terminal (including the addition of a third runway) currently in the works.

To nab your bargain flight from 7pm, head to the Click Frenzy or Melbourne Airport websites.
